By Heath Wood

When it comes to managing and hunting whitetails, success often comes down to one simple principle, putting deer where you want them, when you want them there. A few years back, I faced the challenge of having the neighboring property leased to a group of hunters. Because the landowner of the property I was hunting had cattle, I couldn’t plant food plots to help attract deer over to our land. Yet, the new lease hunters did, however, have new plots going in, that was pulling deer away. That was the first summer I discovered the advantage of using Big and J. I began supplementing feed in a small overgrown field, which was the only grassy area that the farmers’ cows could not get to. By the end of the summer, deer were using that area several times a day. Once I stopped feeding before the season, because of state regulations, I was worried the deer would leave. Yet, I continued to have a bachelor group of bucks show up. On September 19th of that year, I arrowed a mature buck at 23 yards. The Big and J had worked!

Whether you’re running trail cameras, prepping a stand location, or trying to establish a reliable feeding pattern, attraction and nutrition both play a role. That’s where the new Big & J BB2 10+ Apple Aroma Attraction with 10% Plus Protein earns its place on your property.

Built for Attraction First

At its core, BB2 10+ is designed to do one job exceptionally well, pull deer in from a distance and keep them coming back. The signature apple aroma has long been a hunter’s and deer’s favorite of the BB2 lineup, and for good reason. Whitetails are naturally drawn to sweet smells, and this blend creates a scent profile that travels. BB2 10+ is available in 20 lb bags for frequent use or when a large amount is needed at one time. 6 lb bags are great for short term use or when hunting. And in a 20 lb block, which is ideal to use in hard-to-reach areas that you may not have quick access to replenish as often.

For hunters, that means more deer find your feeding site faster, and then have increased daylight activity, which in turn means better camera inventory and scouting opportunities. When hunters run trail cameras in the summer or early fall, this kind of attraction is key to building an inventory of bucks and understanding movement patterns.

Added Nutrition Without Complication

While attraction is the main focus, BB2 10+ doesn’t ignore your deer herd’s health. With 10% minimum protein, it offers a step up from plain corn without requiring a fancy feeding program.

This added protein helps support a deers body condition during stressful periods such as the rut or harsh winters. For hunters like myself who hunt in areas with not a lot of opportunities for natural food, BB2 10+ provides supplemental nutrition in those areas that are lacking quality forage. Giving deer a reason to come to one specific area keeps them revisiting your site consistently.

It’s not meant to replace food plots or year-round feeding programs, but it bridges the gap between attraction and basic nutritional support.

When to Use BB2 10+

One of the biggest advantages of BB2 10+ is its versatility. You can use it nearly year round, as long as your local state regulations allow, but it shines in a few key windows.

During the summer, the scouting season is a prime time for running cameras and identifying bucks. Use BB2 10+ during this time to establish consistent feeding sites, pull deer into camera range, and monitor herd health and antler growth. As the hunting season gets closer, BB2 10+ can be used for early season patterning. As opening day draws near, consistency becomes key.Deer, especially bucks, are in their most predictable routines of the entire season. BB2 10+ helps lock in predictable movement, keeps deer returning to the same locations, which builds a hunter’s confidence in stand placement and being able to harvest a mature buck early.

During the prime months of October and November, pressure increases, and food sources change. Having a consistent and reliable attractant available at all times can keep deer engaged with your property. As the pre rut and rut nears, a congregation of does and bucks are already close by, because of the attraction of BB2 10+. Bucks will come in to feed and check out all the does as well.

Again, if your regulations allow feeding during hunting season, BB2 10+ is simple by design and makes it easy to apply without overthinking your setup. Like choosing your stand sites and potential hunting spots, choosing the right location for your feeding sites is essential for success. Focus on travel corridors, staging areas near bedding, the same as when choosing camera sites or stand locations.

After finding the right spot to feed, keep it consistent. It is vital to replenish your sites regularly to maintain scent and feed presence. Consistency is what builds patterns, so do not overcomplicate it; you don’t need elaborate feeders or setups. Many times, when feeding every few days, making the most of what time you have is key. In some cases, landowners or hunters have to get a ladder out to fill feeders, which takes time. A cleared spot on the ground works just fine. Open the bag, pour it out, or use BB2 10+ in a block style to help make feed last a bit longer. It is easy to use, and a hunter loves that.

The Working Man’s Advantage

Not every hunter has the time or budget for intensive land management. That’s where BB2 10+ really stands out, it’s affordable, effective, and easy to use. It allows you to improve your property’s draw, increase the amount of deer you see, and create more huntable opportunities, all without turning your setup into a full time job.

If your goal is to create reliable deer movement and better hunting opportunities, attraction is the first step, and BB2 10+ delivers exactly that. With its proven aroma, added protein, and simple application, it’s a practical tool for any whitetail hunter looking to gain an edge.
